It Started With a Question.
The MyoSphere began with a frustration many experienced clinicians know well: investing time and money into continuing education only to leave still wanting more.
More depth. More advanced conversations. More opportunities to ask the questions that come up when you're actually doing this work every day.
During one particularly underwhelming course, a conversation turned into a simple idea:
What if we created the kind of learning experience we wished existed?
A place where clinicians could bring the questions they actually needed answered. Where education could go beyond entry-level concepts. Where different disciplines and perspectives could come together. And where the environment was personal enough for real conversations and relationships to happen.
That idea grew through conversations with other clinicians and ultimately became The MyoSphere Symposium.
Today, The MyoSphere is led by Karen Masters, Lindsey Doyle, and Dr. Dawn Moore, who continue to build the symposium around the same belief that started it: experienced clinicians deserve continuing education that grows with them.
Each year, they listen to what the community wants to understand next and bring together educators, topics, and perspectives designed to move those conversations forward.
Meet the Founders and Organizers
of The MyoSphere
Karen Masters, MS, CCC-SLP, COM®️, QOM®️, has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for more than 35 years. After working in a variety of clinical settings, Karen found her professional home in private practice. When the owner retired, she took over what would become Chatham Speech & Myo, growing it into a thriving specialty practice serving children, families, and adults throughout the surrounding New Jersey communities. She is licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Karen began her formal training in orofacial myology in 2014 through NeoHealth Services and went on to earn her Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM®️) credential through the IAOM and Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM®️) credential through NeoHealth. Prior to COVID she worked as NeoHealth's Graduate Coordinator and planned, coordinated, and facilitated their live training programs across the country, connecting with clinicians from a wide range of disciplines.
Those experiences helped inspire Karen's idea for what would become The MyoSphere Symposium - a collaborative, multidisciplinary educational event bringing professionals together to learn, connect, and share ideas. Along with her MyoSphere partners, she has helped develop the symposium into an ongoing learning community centered around orofacial myology, airway health, and interdisciplinary care. Karen is passionate about collaboration among speech-language pathologists, orthodontists, dentists, ENTs, and other professionals who recognize the impact of oral function on the people they serve.

Dr. Dawn Moore ClinScD., CCC-SLP, COM®, aka "The Tongue Dr.", is the Founder and Executive Director of The Tongue Dr., Expressions Speech, and Expressions Seminars in Burlington, North Carolina. Dr. Moore is a Board Certified and Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is currently licensed in North Carolina, Illinois, Georgia, Missouri, and Arizona.
Dr. Moore has over 28 years of experience in Speech-Language Pathology, earning her clinical doctorate in 2018. For 15 years, she practiced in the schools of North Carolina as both a clinician and Lead SLP, earning recognition as a Teacher of Excellence, before expanding into private practice in 2010, serving children of all ages. Her main interests include orofacial myology and speech sound disorders (articulation, phonological delay, and apraxia). She uses her own program, Let’s Hear It For /R/!, which was the subject of her doctoral clinical study, to correct the difficult /r/ sound. For phonology, she uses Barbara Hodson’s Cycles for Phonology due to the success she continues to have with the program. As an ASHA CEU Provider, her continuing education company, Expressions Seminars, provides live, online, and on-demand practical, clinical training for speech sound disorders and orofacial myology.
Dr. Moore became a Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM®), through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and a Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM®) through NeoHealth Services, after struggling to find help for her own daughter with a severe tongue thrust. Through this training, she began serving patients, both in-person and online, while completing extensive continuing education including becoming a Certified Myo Munchee Practitioner through Myo Munchee (Australia).
Dr. Moore regularly presents across the country, in-person and online, educating SLPs, orthodontists, ENTs, and dental professionals about the impact myofunctional disorders have on speech, feeding, chewing, breathing, and dentition. She launched The Tongue Dr. website as a community outreach effort to continue to disseminate this crucial information to both patients and professionals.
